A Visit to a Strawberry Patch: Organic Berry Smoothie Recipe

It is strawberry season in California, one of my favorite times of the year. A few weeks ago, Mini Me and I took a trip to a locally-grown, organic strawberry farm located in the Santa Ynez Hills. The Farmstead is the area’s source for organic produce, and its farm stand environment is quaint and perfectly trendy.

This area of California is known for agriculture, and being this close to the source is amazing. At the pick-your-own patch, the farmers were working in the fields while we were filling our baskets with fresh strawberries.

My daughter and I worked hard to fill our basket, but after picking several pints, we had to call it good.

These organic strawberries were amazing to eat, but we had too many to consume in one week.

We brought the basket back and ate a few of the freshest berries we’ve ever had – so juicy and delicious. Then, we froze the rest of the batch so we could enjoy them later. Frozen strawberries are perfect for post-workout smoothies. Yummy!

I started working out recently because… well bikini season. It’s now May, and that means June is right around the corner. While I won’t spring for a two-piece, I still want to be in a healthy shape for lounging by the pool.

My downward dog is not so downward, yet. I’m more like a table-top with a broken leg; but still, working out is working out. It deserves an organic, protein-rich snack afterwards.

What better way to consume strawberries than in a smoothie? So summer-y and delicious! Perfect after morning yoga.

Yep – that just happened. My smoothie spilled on me. The exhausted person in me didn’t realize, and my smoothie just came out of the straw.

No worries, I just reached for my Shout® Trigger Triple-Acting Stain Remover to help me get out this berry-ridden smoothie stain. The convenient trigger dispenser releases stain-fighting ingredients and enzymes to quickly penetrate, break up and remove tough stains. And organic strawberry stains are wicked hard to get out of clothes.
