Adulting is Hard

So, I realized that I haven’t been active on this blog for a month.  And while I would love to say I took a months’ long vacation in Cabo or Fiji, instead, I was just taking some time off to “deal” with life.  Because, well, Adulting is freaking HARD!!

Consider this my “back to blogging” post.

What have I been up to?  Well – take a look!

Where Have Your Dreams Taken You?

So I was catching up on last week’s Shark Tank episode, all about military spouses and veterans and their businesses, and I was incredibly excited about this one in particular. One business that I have been following for months now, R. Riveter was featured, and as the sharks were talking about military spouses and the sacrifice we make to support our military members, I realized I was crying.  The sharks are typically known for tearing apart business owners, trying to get the meat of the deal.  Instead, they saw two women, who put their own professional dreams on hold because they found love.  Why was I crying, you ask?  Because these were women who disrupted the military system and founded a company that promotes the mobility of the military community.  And they did it, all while still supporting the men they loved, who were fighting for the country we all love.   (more…)

Case of the Mondays – How I Tackle Mornings

Office Space is my all-time favorite movie.  I can practically quote the entire movie, start to finish.  I have found myself in similar “Milton” situations where my working space was moved so frequently, I ended up on a folding table in a hallway.  My husband’s response?  To buy me a red stapler.  (Funny, right?  No? )

I Am Not Worthy – A Journey in Self Sabotage

Today, was one of those days I didn’t feel worthy.  I have been blessed in recent months to have some remarkable opportunities come my way.  I’ve hustled, worked hard, and put myself out there to receive such things.

But today was different. Today, I made myself vulnerable in a different way.  I didn’t think I was worthy.  I didn’t think I was ready to receive such an incredible opportunity – the next step in my career.  Instead of being my own cheerleader, I became my own critic.

One Year Later

I disappeared this summer, for good reason.  I needed to clear my mind, I needed to make decisions and I needed to reevaluate if being a geo-bachelor wife was really for me.

Wait.  Before you get all, “oh my gosh, they’re getting a divorce” on me, stop right there!  That’s not what I’m saying!  Instead, let me remind you, or explain to those newer to my blog.

One year ago, when my husband moved out to California, I made him a promise that we’d give this lifestyle a year.  A year to see where I was at in my career, where Mini Me was at with school, and where he was at with the distance.  Instead of us taking this head on for four years total, we decided to bite it off in more manageable chunks.  One year still was a lot to take in, a lot can happen (and did), but it was a lot better sounding to all of us.

So now that the year has passed, what did we decide?  Are we staying or are we moving?

Before I divulge our decision, let’s look back on what we’ve been through as a geo-bach family:
